Once Upon a Dad

Why not "Once Upon a Parent" or "Father"?
"Parent" is school assemblies and adult consent;
"Father" rings strict and preachy.
As my dear, brilliant wife sealed it: "anyone can
be a 'father'... but it takes time, love, and
being present to be a 'dad'".
